Instructors:
– Adrien MICHEL received his engineering degree in Energy from UTBM (University of Technology of Belfort-Montbéliard), France, in 2015.
Adrien is working at Powersys since January 2016 and is taking care about PSIM and SABER Support.
Language: English
Public and technical background required
The training is recommended to everybody interested in the theoretical aspects and practical design issues of power electronics simulation.
Having previous experience in power electronics and circuit simulation is really useful, but beginners with no background in those topics will also benefit from the training.
Objectives
The objective of this training is to acquire abilities in PSIM and SABER software about power electronics simulations. From Basic design to advanced analysis PSIM and SABER are two complementarity solutions for power converters analysis. Those software provide designers the ability to simulate, analyze and verify interactions between multiple physical domains (electrical, magnetic, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, etc.). With their analysis and modeling capabilities designers can have really quick overview of results and also can perform optimization, Robust Design, and analyze failure effects on virtual prototypes to get safe systems. Design procedures based on software tools like PSIM and SABER will be applied and illustrated through practical design cases.
Program
Morning:
Section 1: Introduction to PSIM software
- PSIM General Presentation
- How to create a circuit
- Use of C code in PSIM
- AC sweep analysis
- Digital control: S2Z Convertion tool
- Thermal Module
Section 2: Introduction to SABER software
- SABER General presentation
- Time Domain Analysis
- Schematic Capture & Parts Gallery
- DC and AC Analysis
- Design Optimization
- Introduction to Modeling:
Afternoon:
Section 3: PSIM-SABER: A complete complementary solution
- Principle of complementary between PSIM and SABER
- Robust Design & Sensitivity Analysis
- Monte-Carlo and Pareto Analysis
- Worst Case Analysis
- Fault Analysis
- PSIM : implementation of power electronics circuits & quick analysis
- SABER : implementation of power electronics circuits & advanced analysis
The program is subject to change.
Methodology
The overall methodology is based on theoretical explanation on main concepts and details followed by practical implementation of the complete design procedure:
- 70% theoretical contents
- 30% practical exercises by means of guided PSIM and SABER simulations
A complete set of PSIM and SABER exercises already developed will be provided to the audience together with the rest of course materials. During practical exercises, attendees will be asked to change some component values and/or modify the schematics of the provided examples and carry out simulations. Attendees will experiment different softwares in order to have more knowledges on basic and advanced analysis on power electronics simulations.
