Overview
This Robust Design workshop teaches a practical methodology for implementing a robust design flow using simulation. The class concentrates on methodology and walks you through the steps that lead to quality, cost-effective design.
During this workshop, you will learn and apply the following skills:
• Determine the design performance measure that is the focus of robust design techniques
• Implement a model in a manner that balances the trade-off between fidelity, ease-of implementation, and simulation speed
• Simulate to determine the nominal system response
• Isolate the design parameters that have the biggest influence on design robustness
• Optimize the design to meet robustness goals
Hands-on labs follow each training module, so you can apply the skills learned in the lecture session.
Public and technical background required
Design engineers or engineering managers who are interested in improving the quality or cost-effectiveness of their products. This class applies to both those with and without Saber experience. The lab work is setup to accommodate new users. Current Saber users will also find the class helpful for taking full advantage of the advanced features of the simulator such as Sensitivity and Monte Carlo analyses.
Prerequisites
Basic understanding of engineering design principles.
Objectives
At the end of this workshop you should be able to:
– Apply the steps of the robust design methodology that leverages a virtual prototype
– Use the Saber Simulator to apply the steps of this methodology
